The United States Military has a constant and ongoing demand for lightweight armor solutions. These solutions need not only be lighter, but also more resistant to ballistic and blast attack than conventional armor all while being cost effective. With the introduction of new composite materials, bullet and blast mitigating shape plates, and active armor, the opaque armor community has answered the call.
The job is hardly complete, and should never be, but there has been definite improvement. Although producing transparent armor offers unique and challenging obstacles not faced in the opaque world, the spotlight is now placed directly on the manufacturers of transparent armor to follow the successes of their opaque armor counterparts.
With the introduction of two new transparent armor products utilizing advanced materials, OSG, Inc. has made a significant step forward in matching those successes, the first major step, of many, in an attempt to answer the ongoing call of the US Military. These products show significant weight and thickness reductions and maintain a high level of optical clarity and light transmission while remaining NVG compatible.
They are also compatible with OSG's proprietary turbo defrost and framing systems and are offered both as a complete framed assembly or as transparent armor to fit OEM vehicle manufactures specifications. OSG, Inc. continues to develop products that are the future in protection for the US warfighter.
