Blaythorne

In the summer of 2006, Oriel Solutions was introduced to Expedition Kit Direct Ltd, and from this moment on, the two companies worked hand in hand in providing solutions to clients operating in hostile and benign environments.

Over the following two years, both companies worked on several large scale procurement and security projects, each providing key capabilities and adding greater capacity to the scope of projects. This included the provision of much needed support to Gloucester County Council in the 2007 floods and several Private Security Companies and NGOs working in Africa, Afghanistan and Iraq.

It was not until, December 07 that the two companies started talks on merging the 2 main capabilities of; procurement of general and specific equipment from Expedition Kit and the specialised security equipment from Oriel Solutions. Shortly after talks were started, it was realised that in order to provide the total solution, it was better to bring the Project Management, Logistics and Security Management side of the businesses together as they were interdependent for many clients. Now the business has all these capabilities under one roof allowing clients to use a number of resources and consultancy services.

Blaythorne Ltd is a fully owned subsidiary of Expedition Kit Direct Limited and Oriel Solutions UK Limited. Shortly before the merger it was also decided to relocate Blaythorne to South Wales in the heart of the Black mountains and Brecon Beacons, where a large private training and demonstration area (20,000 acres) was available. Blaythorne Ltd is now based on the Glanusk Estate, but still retains an office in West London and subsidiary offices in South Africa (Cape Town), Argentina (Buenos Aires).
